Smruthi Inamdar - A Prodigy in Making
It is worth while returning to the recollects ions of
Smruti V. Inamdar who joined K.V Beml Nagar in year 2002 her experience
as a class 1 student is worth mentioning year. Her attempt to send her
class in line at the stroke of 2.pm turned out futile – she stood
behind, amidst repeated pleas, “Go in line. Please go in line”. All this
fell on deaf ears and Smruti stood back shedding tears. But lo! A silent
onlooker stood beside, Guess it was principal. He patiently gave a ear
to the disheartening tale of the determine leader “Sir, I am telling him
to go in line. Just see sir, ooh-o-o how they are running”. He
thoughtfully studied her plight. His gentle piece of advice was an
eye-opener for the 5 year old. He said, “If you have to make real gains
as a leader you have to toil hard as your parents, teachers and your
principal”.
The girl of 9 years, now, undaunted with the intellectually challenging
class of IV, has reached stupendous heights in her academics and
co-curricular activities. She is no doubt a shy girl but a confident
orator. Accuracy is her watchword. The multiple awards and accolades
have proved her to be an outstanding achiever. She is quite unique with
new impulses, inspirations and techniques. She aptly fits into the art
of winning strategy of the renowned, writer Shiv Kher, ‘do small things
in a great way’.
I have been observing her for the past 2 years, what makes her
different, is her need to excel in whatever competition she takes up. A
tough daily schedule has been an integral part of her mother’s regimen.
Seeing her currently flying high in all the activities, I casually told
her – Smruti, tell me about your ambition in life. She glowed, “Ma’ am,
as a lid, I wished to be a teacher. Obviously, if I had been born much
earlier, I think I would have been the first Indian to get into space.
The good and admirable part she said was, ‘Unlike Kalpana Chawla and
Sunita Williams, I will make waves globally from an Indian soil. Won’t
my motherland be proud to have my spaceship across Indian skies? I just
smiled and recalled the famous thought.
Yesterday was but a dream
Tomorrow is only a Vision
But Today well lived makes every Yesterday
A dream of Happiness
And every Tomorrow a vision of Hope
When Smruti has been successful every ‘Today’, she will certainly strive
hard to the expectations of her mentor to face the stimulating challenge
that ‘Life’ in this millennium has in store for her. Besides she has
soared higher planes in the following
